1. What to Know Before You Buy
| |
|---|
| What it is | A first-person fishing-shooter. Core loop: Fish → Kill → Sell → Upgrade weapons → Fight bosses |
| Solo vs. Co-op | Solo is playable but gets dull fast; co-op supports up to 8 players — playing with friends makes the experience far better |
| System requirements | Light — an i3 handles it easily |
| ⚠️ No cloud saves | Cloud saving isn't marked on the Steam page; back up before switching PCs or wiping saves |
| ⚠️ Co-op saves live on the host | Only the host's save persists — ideally the same person always hosts |
| Difficulty | On the harder side — the fish are hyper-aggressive, and there are no armor/HP upgrades. Rookie players, beware |
| Length | Short — roughly 1–2 hours excluding fishing-for-cash grind |
2. Do These 3 Things First
1. Raise your sensitivity
- The default sensitivity is only 0.5, way too low
- Bump it up in settings first, or turning around will feel awful
2. Rebind your keys
- Known bug: Keybindings reset to default every time you quit
- You have to open the keybind menu and back out to restore them — do it each session
- Field of view and framerate settings also don’t persist; reset them every launch
3. Turn off friendly fire (co-op)
- In server settings, disable friendly fire, or teammates can damage you at 0.5x
- With FF off, dynamite also won’t damage you
3. Key Bindings Quick Reference
| Key | Function |
|---|
| Q | Drop item (press Q to set down dynamite before throwing) |
| F | Inspect item (check cooking multiplier) |
| Tab | Open the collection/inspect page |
| Shift + A/D/S | Sprint sideways/backwards (not taught in-game, but extremely useful!) |
| E | Interact (get off boat / return, etc.) |
| Radar RMB | Zoom the map out |
⚠️ Sprint isn’t just forward — hold Shift with A/D/S to sprint sideways or even backwards. The tutorial completely omits this, but it’s a lifesaver in boss fights; many players only discover it on their second playthrough.
4. Fishing Tips
| |
|---|
| Crab rod | Just place it on the ground and wait — fish hook themselves |
| Regular rod | You must reel it in after casting to hook a fish — idle waiting yields nothing |
Advanced tips:
- Fish with bombs: On the whale island, throw dynamite into the water to catch fish without fishing one by one (great value)
- Lost rod fix: Can’t reel your rod back in time during a boss fight? Just drop it and pick it back up — no bait wasted
- Seagull thieves: Grab freshly killed fish fast, or seagulls will steal them (including your premium catches!)
5. Healing & Cooking
- Food restores HP; grilled food restores more
- Island 3 unlocks grilling: cook to a 1.5x price max, but burning drops it to 0.1x
- Press F to open the inspection panel and check the multiplier; stop as soon as it hits 1.5
- Volcanic lava auto-cooks anything that falls in to perfect doneness (free cooking)
- When in water, keep jumping and you won’t drown
- Downed teammate: A slap revives them, but be quick — otherwise a seagull will haul them off
6. Combat & Weapon Advice
Recommended Weapon Progression
| Stage | Pick | Notes |
|---|
| Island 1 | Buy the knife (melee) | For the crab: after it stuns, land 6 knife hits up close or 4 from slightly farther, then back off |
| Island 2 | Shotgun + dynamite | Dynamite clears the piranha adds; shotgun point-blank finishes the field |
| Island 3 | SMG | Beware the massive, hard-to-control recoil |
| Island 4 | Sniper | Slow bolt-action; great for the boss, not recommended for fish |
| Island 5/Final | Fully-upgraded Assault Rifle | The best choice for the final boss |
Budget & Avoidance
- ❌ Don’t over-invest in melee upgrades (poor value after Island 1)
- ❌ Don’t grill weapons (skins/cosmetics disappear; you can only buy a new one)
- ❌ Don’t gamble it all on the skin gacha (you might get duplicates and lose everything)
- ✅ Pick good weapon attachments — smoother progression
The Dynamite Cheese ⭐
- Dynamite damage has no damage cap
- Pile a huge stack of dynamite in one spot, lure the boss over = tactical nuke
- Shooting dynamite on the ground detonates it too; one explosion chain-detonates all nearby sticks
7. Quick Island-by-Island Guide
| Island | Key Tips |
|---|
| Island 1 · Spider Crab | Buy the knife; wait for it to charge and stun against a wall, land a few hits, then back off — don’t get greedy |
| Island 2 · Big Piranha | Dynamite the adds, shotgun the field, and snack on the small piranhas on the ground to heal mid-fight |
| Island 3 · Blue Shark | If you can’t win, hide behind trees and use them to block the shark |
| Island 3 · Pufferfish | Circle it; when it dashes, sidestep and jump — it will jump too, and you can shoot it while it’s slowed mid-air; in phase 2 (below half HP), weave in an S-pattern to dodge the poison |
| Island 4 · Albatross | Sprint to dodge dives, take cover in a house and fight slowly, and bomb a few fish to snack on |
| Island 5 · Bowhead Whale | Stay on the right side of the island house — hug the wall and the whale’s downward slam can’t reach you; it keeps jumping right above your head, so just shoot straight up 😄 |
| Final Boss (Volcano Whale) | In co-op, fight from the boat: one player circles the island driving while the others DPS from deck — you barely take damage |
