How to Fish — Money-Making Guide
Core economic loop: Fish → Kill → Sell → Upgrade Equipment → Fight Boss → Next Island.
1. The Pricing System: Score Multiplier
Fish prices aren’t fixed — they’re calculated as base price × kill-style multiplier.
| High-score kill-style |
|---|
| 360° spin before the kill |
| Stealing the kill in co-op |
| Melee kill |
| Long-range gunshot kill |
| Kill without ADS (hip-fire) |
Want top dollar? Don’t just shoot straight — the flashier your kill, the higher the price.
2. Fishing Basics
Crab Rod
- How it works: Plop it on the ground and wait — fish hook themselves automatically
- Best for: Making your first money early game; just idle and let it work
Regular Rod
- Key point: You must reel it in after casting to hook a fish — waiting around does nothing
- Tip: Reel timing affects how efficiently you land fish
3. Grilled Fish Price Bonus (Unlocks on Island 3)
Once grilling is unlocked on Island 3, cooked fish sells for more.
| Cooking State | Price Multiplier |
|---|
| Perfectly cooked (1.5x) | Up to 1.5x |
| Starting to burn | Drops gradually down to 0.1x |
Key operations:
- Press F to open the inspection panel and check the current cook multiplier
- Stop the moment it hits 1.5 — don’t burn it
- Volcanic lava automatically cooks anything that falls in to perfect doneness (free grilling!)
4. Fast Money-Making by Island
Island 1 (Starting Island)
- Set up the crab rod and kill with melee for your first cash
- Save up enough for weapon upgrades before fighting the Spider Crab boss

Island 2 (Recommended Grinding Spot ⭐)
- After unlocking dynamite → fast money grind
- Blow up fish schools with dynamite — far more efficient than guns
Island 3
- Grilling unlocks; sell fish with the 1.5x price multiplier
- SMG unlocks; faster fish clearing
- Circle trees fighting the Blue Shark; decent drop income
Island 4
- The sniper’s slow bolt-action makes fish farming inefficient — not recommended for pure grinding
- Mainly advance by clearing the boss
Island 5
- Assault Rifle unlocks; fastest fish clearing
- Stockpile dynamite for the Bowhead Whale — high payout but high difficulty
5. Shiny Fish & Gacha System
Shiny Fish (Premium Catch)
- Catching a shiny (premium) fish trades for one gacha spin
- Spins award weapon skins
- Gacha is gambling — you can “go all-in and lose everything”
- Lucky-player compounding: premium fish both fill the collection and grant a spin
Skin Gacha
- Pulling a rainbow skin is extremely satisfying
- But the gacha can hand you duplicate skins
- One player’s gripe: “the wheel spins past a pile of gold and red — then hard-forces you a turd”
6. Co-op Economy
| Feature | Details |
|---|
| Shared economy | Economy is shared in co-op — freeloaders can ride the gravy train |
| Kill-stealing bonus | Stealing kills in co-op adds the score multiplier |
| Co-op farming | Teamwork is far more efficient — one player aggros, another DPS |
7. Saving Money & Avoiding Traps
❌ Don’t Do These
| Thing | Why |
|---|
| Grilling weapons | Cooked weapons lose their skins/cosmetics |
| Dropping weapons in lava | They burn, the skin disappears, and you must buy a new one |
| Over-upgrading melee | Poor value after Island 1; don’t keep investing |
| Gambling it all away | The gacha might leave you empty-handed |
✅ Money-Saving Tips
| Tip | Details |
|---|
| Pick good weapon attachments | Smoother progression; everyone ends up on a fully-upgraded assault rifle by the final boss |
| Drop and re-pick the rod | If you can’t reel your rod back in time during a boss fight, drop it and grab it again — no bait wasted |
| Stack seagull corpses as medkits | Seagulls steal dead fish, but they won’t steal seagull bodies — pile seagull corpses for cheap healing |
8. Player Experience Takeaways
| Source | Takeaway |
|---|
| General consensus | It’s fundamentally a fish-grind money game — farm cash → upgrade → boss |
| Island 2 | “Once you have dynamite, money flows fast” |
| Island 3 | The 1.5x grilled fish price is a major income source |
| Late game | Fish price depends on quality; late-game fish can be worth “only a few bucks” |
| Overall | The campaign is short — aside from fishing-for-cash, it’s roughly an hour of playtime |
